Have you heard of “The Clairs”?

And no, it is not an all-female rock band.

It is a phrase people sometimes use to describe our “subtle senses,” the intuitive capacities we have to pick up on information beyond physical perception.

The word “clair” means “clear” in French. We can have clear seeing (clairvoyance), clear hearing (clairaudience), clair feeling (clear sentience), clear knowing (claircognizance), and more.

One of the things I noticed on meditation retreats is that as I sat on a cushion for hours, the Clairs would reliably show up. When attention fell away from discursive thinking and planning and landed in what I like to call “embodied immediacy,” there were the Clairs.

Outside of intensive practice environments, many of us have such experiences. We hear an auditory message that seems to come out of nowhere; we have a gut sense of knowing about someone we need to call or an action we need to take; we see a vision in a dream or in a waking state that brings significant information to us, and more.

Sometimes we doubt the validity and importance of such perceptions. I believe that is, at least in part, because our dominant culture doesn’t encourage us to value what is outside a material/physcial framework. Yet for many of us, it is in the realm of “The Clairs” where some of our most meaningful experiences occur.

Which is why we are focusing on “Honoring Our Subtle Senses” in October on Sounds True One.

Featured Highlights

[Tea with Tami](https://join.soundstrue.com/2026-truly-human/)

Caroline Myss, a world-renowned medical intuitive and best-selling author of Anatomy of the Spirit, will be joining me for “Tea with Tami” on October 8 at 8 pm ET | 5 pm PT. Since childhood, Caroline’s life has been guided by micro-mystical experiences, and encounters with whispered guidance from holy messengers. In this special Sounds True One gathering, we will explore the intuitive signals that guide us, why we sometimes refuse to listen, and how to develop greater trust in our subtle senses and align with what Caroline calls “the way of guardians and grace.”

[Wild World, Steady Mind](https://join.soundstrue.com/2026-truly-human/)

“Wild World, Steady Mind” is a special live session with Tibetan Buddhist meditation master, Mingyur Rinpoche on October 3 at 10 am ET | 7 am PT. Mingyur Rinpoche will share with us some of the discoveries he made during a near-death experience that gave rise to his teachings on what it means to be “in love with the world.” He will help us discover what he calls “the luminous self,” an indestructible light that we can perceive with our subtle senses. As he teaches, “Behind every dark cloud is a radiant, clear sky.”

[Falling Open in a World that is Falling Apart](https://join.soundstrue.com/2026-truly-human/)

“Falling Open in a World that is Falling Apart” with modern mystic and teacher of The Path of Primordial Light, Zvi Ish-Shalom, will return on October 7 at 8 pm ET | 5 pm PT. Zvi teaches that some of that is coming apart in the world right now might also be a certain kind of awakening, a light descending from above. In this session, Zvi shares a practice for recognizing this subtle light in your own body and for safely “falling open” to these blessings.

[The Surprising Sources of Spiritual Awakening](https://join.soundstrue.com/2026-truly-human/)

A Transformation Lab on “The Surprising Sources of Spiritual Awakening” with Steve Taylor, author of The Leap and Senior Lecturer of Psychology at Leeds Beckett University in West Yorkshire, England returns on October 28 at 12 pm ET | 9 am PT. Steve Taylor will lead us in an exploration of how sudden awakening is often linked to psychological turmoil, and the extraordinary possibilities for subtle sensing that develop when we open to our suffering with profound acceptance.

[Trusting Our Subtle Knowing with Shawn Moore](https://join.soundstrue.com/2026-truly-human/)

Community Meditation sessions on “Trusting Our Subtle Knowing” led by Shawn J. Moore, a gifted yoga and meditation teacher and sound healer. On each Saturday in October (October 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31) at 11 am ET | 8 am PT, Shawn will guide us into deeper relationship with the quiter layers of awareness, exploring what becomes available to us when we return to the body, listen beneath the surface, and soften into receptivity.

Subtle sensing is a natural part of our perceptual system. When we drop into immediacy in a non-conceptual way, clear seeing, clear hearing, clear knowing, clear light … a party with “The Clairs … is the invitation. Just bring your openness.

With love on the journey,

Tami Simon
