Hey Benjamin,
Ever since I was a kid, I knew I wanted to start my own business.
I remember sitting in the back of my dad's truck when I was a teenager thinking… man, wouldn't it be so cool if I had a staff of
20 people and was my own boss.
At the time, I wasn't even thinking in terms of how much money I wanted to make.
It was more about stepping into the identity of being a founder.
And neither of my parents were entrepreneurs.
For the most part I grew up middle class.
So honestly I'm not sure where I got that inspiration to even want to build something of my own…
But I knew for sure I had that fire deep inside of me.
And that desire burned so hot that by the time I was around 24, I just couldn't see myself working for another person.
Again, it wasn't about the money at the time.
They paid me well.
It's just who I am.

A lot of my clients ask me for my advice on how to build AI automations.
What I always tell them is to not worry about that.
It doesn't matter if you spend the next 6 months building something if nobody is going to buy it.
Especially with AI, because everything will be custom based on the client's problems.
So the advice I typically give is to just sell first. SELL. SELL. SELL.
Nothing else matters besides getting the client to give you money.
ONLY when you get the money can you start thinking about building.
And with the money they give you, building will take care of itself, because there are countless good builders out there starving…
Because they're too afraid to put themselves out there and sell.
Whoever owns the relationship with the client has all the leverage.

Back when I was working a job, my main focus was to cover my living expenses so I wouldn't get into credit card debt.
Not going to lie, living in San Francisco was expensive, and I actually got into $6,000 of credit card debt because my salary
couldn't cover my living expenses for the first few months.
I remember during that time it felt so stressful, and I felt like I had to dedicate every ounce of my energy to get out of that
hole.
Fortunately, it only took me a couple months to pay off all my debt with sales commissions, but…
Something I learned from that experience is when I was living check to check, my dreams took a back seat.
I was no longer an innocent child who dreamed…
But instead became a boring adult that just worried about bills.
And I feel this is a common trap a lot of people fall for, especially those living in the U.S.
So when I started making my own money with my online business, I moved to Vietnam when I was making about $4K/mo.
It was less than what I was making at my previous full-time job, but I was FREE.
I could finally spend my time doing what I wanted to do.
You have no idea how much joy I had just waking up, going to a cafe at 10AM to sip on a cappuccino as I journaled and planned my
day.
It's the little things that bring the most joy.
Anyways, I wanted to share that perspective because chances are you're looking for your own form of freedom as well.
And I can tell you, once you make a couple thousand dollars on your own… That's when the real game of life begins.

But I am saying it's possible with the right knowledge and just a couple hours a day.

This weekend I decided to take a trip to Bangkok, Thailand with my girlfriend.
Now, I'm mainly here to train Muay Thai and rest…
But because I love what I do, I do a little work here and there.
So this morning I was working on some content and naturally I had a few AI agents doing a lot of the grunt work for me.
It was taking a while for them to get the job done… so I just decided to go out and get omakase with my girlfriend at this nice
restaurant here.

My biggest inspiration right now has got to be Drake.
Isn't it crazy that last year it felt like the entire entertainment industry was out to get him CANCELED.
Slandering his name, making wild accusations without definitive proof and trying to destroy his legacy.
You've seen the Super Bowl performance by Kendrick right? They had a whole anthem going on.
And now after he dropped ICEMAN and 2 other albums all at the same time…
Suddenly everyone's Instagram stories are using his music again.
He turned the entire narrative around and made his enemies look like clowns.
Not only that, but he's been able to stay relevant in pop culture and music for all these years.
Although I'm not a rapper or singer, I can still relate because as someone who creates content for a living there are a lot of
similarities.
A few years back, I also had a group of clowns try to cancel me too but in the end I came out even stronger.
So if you're ever going through a tough time where it feels like everyone's turning their back on you…
Just remember, that makes the comeback story even better.

Hey Benjamin,
The biggest mistake I see people make when trying to sell anything AI is leading with "let me audit your business and come up with
how to automate your processes."
If you think about it, why would any serious business owner let a complete stranger who's just starting out audit their business.
That makes absolutely no sense.
Here's what to do instead.
Lead with a specific problem a business owner has (that's not AI).
Message them letting them know you understand their problem and have some kind of solution and book a call.
Here's an example:
* One of our Founder X members Zaldy looks for law firms who are hiring for a paralegal but have had the job open for months
(meaning they can't find someone)
* He messages the founder on LinkedIn about it and says he has a solution to solve that problem
* Owner gets on the call and Zaldy pitches the DESIRED OUTCOME of doing the paralegal work with AI.
The key here is Zaldy isn't selling the AI automation, he's selling results.
But he's using AI to do 90% of the work and collects the cash.
Sometimes business is much simpler than you think if you just get out of your own head.

Hey Benjamin,
I've been going hard in Muay Thai for the last year.
And when I say hard I mean practicing 4 to 5 times a week and traveling to Thailand (the home of Muay Thai) to train with the top
0.1% of fighters on the planet.
Now, you might be thinking…okay but what's the point if I'm not going to be a professional fighter?
I thought a lot about this and I've come to a few conclusions on why I feel every man should practice a martial art.
If you work primarily with your brain (like I do), having hobbies where you use your hands serves as a good balance to prevent
burnout.

The confidence you gain from learning how to fight translates to how you carry yourself in your everyday life, business, and
relationships.
The character traits and discipline you need to adopt in order to get better also translate to everything you do in life
especially business and dealing with painful situations.
I could go on and on with the benefits but I think you get the point.
Although fighting doesn't directly relate to making YouTube videos…
I can confidently say that it's helped me make a lot of money.
And you know, it's much more beneficial compared to when I used to play computer games 6 hours a day haha.

10 years ago I was living in Bangkok making $0/mo trying to figure out how I was going to build my online business.
And now, I make more money in 1 month than I did working an entire year for someone else.

Hey Benjamin,
A couple years ago I unconsciously entered a really dark place in my mentality where I just kept grinding in front of a computer
screen day after day trying to make it.
I do think there is a time to lock in but I realize now that that's no way to live life.
Logically you would think that if you're happier and go on adventures, it would lead to more energy for you to focus on work,
right?
And yeah, I learned that to be true for me.
So what I've been doing recently is going on an adventure literally EVERY MONTH.
Last month it was Bali.
This month it's Bangkok. Next month, we'll see haha.

If you work a 9-5 I can understand this being hard to fathom because back when I worked at Oracle…
It would just be grind, grind and grind.
Then once a year take a week vacation.
The difference is now I incorporate adventure into my regular lifestyle.
Life wasn't meant to be lived paying rent in a place you don't want to live in and counting the days until your next vacation.

I used to be really obsessed with the results.
In a weird way, if I didn't make as much money as I believed I should…
I would consider myself a failure.
But recently, I had the realization that all I can do is try my best to play the cards I was dealt.
Whatever happens happens.

Hey Benjamin,
People are always looking for the next AI hack or whatever but I feel getting your fundamentals right in how you live your life
affects you much more than you may think.
In my opinion, the biggest decisions you can make are
* Where you live
* What you do for work
* Who you marry
* How you take care of your health
Now using myself as an example..
I decided to move from California to Vietnam to feel FREE.
And I wanted to start a business that was 100% online which would allow me to work from anywhere in the world.
I was also looking for a long term relationship, specifically with a Vietnamese woman (met my girlfriend with a cold approach at
the gym here haha)
And obviously, I take care of my health with lifting weights, Muay Thai and eating healthy (I have a private chef here in Vietnam,
it's cheaper than you think btw).

These decisions have made such a positive impact on my life in so many ways.
So if you're reading this, I encourage you to not just live a life based on what other people think is good for you..

If you go on YouTube, there are many people who sell you the dream of working online and being free.
I mean, I do it all the time too so I get it.

This weekend was one of our team members' birthday so we decided to celebrate with some Go-Karting.
One thing I realize as I get older is it's such a blessing to be able to spend time with friends and family.
I think for the majority of people they stop making new friends after 30 years old and it's pretty common to fall into the same
old routine.
If you stay stuck in that mentality, 10 years will go by in the blink of an eye.
And you know, sometimes it's the little moments like Go-Karting with your friends over the weekend that can bring a lot of joy
into your life.

If you've been trying to find the perfect business idea for weeks or even months but have made no progress, this email is going to

The truth is, most of you guys are being too "cute".
You're trying to come up with some magic business idea and somehow that's going to make you a bunch of money.
In reality, instead of coming up with something original, you need to learn how to copy.

The #1 thing that increases my conversion rates on sales calls is not the script or how much I prepare…
It's actually my emotional state and how I feel.
Even if I have the perfect script and I have the client researched to the max…
If I'm upset, sad or whatever negative emotions someone would feel, the chance of closing is going down…
But when I feel happy and inspired…even if I have no script, didn't do any research and freestyle the whole sales conversation,
somehow people still want to work with me.
This is why at companies, even if you give everyone the same sales script, people are going to have completely different results.
It's not the script, strategy or whatever.
It comes down to how well a person can control their emotions and put themselves in an optimistic and abundance mindset.

Hey Benjamin,
When I first started my career out of college, I got a cubicle job at Oracle.
To be honest, I didn't really want to get a 9-5 job but I couldn't figure out how to make money on my own..
So naturally, I got a sales job specifically so I could learn the skill set of selling.
I knew from day 1 that if I could sell, then I could eventually start my own business one day.
At first I thought that I needed like 5 years of experience before I could start my own business…
But after 1 year and 8 months, I really was unhappy living in San Francisco and didn't like my sales job anymore.

So I just quit and moved to Thailand to try to figure out this whole online thing.
It took me an entire year to make my first $1,000 online but I can tell you in hindsight that it was 100% worth it.
Because after I made that first $1,000, I knew if I kept going I could definitely make more.
And now here we are, making more than $100K/mo while living in Vietnam and traveling to another country with my girlfriend every
month.
Compared to working in a cubicle and getting no girls in San Francisco.. yeah 100% worth it.

Hey Benjamin,
A while back I went swimming with whale sharks in Cebu, Philippines.
One question I had in the back of my mind the entire time is how do they get these whale sharks to come swim with the humans.
So when I finally got under water wit my goggles, on I figured it out.
You see, they had a team of people giving out free food to these whale sharks so the animals would just follower wherever the food
was.
And because these guys are feeding the whale sharks everyday, they come back every single morning.
Now taking this concept and applying it into selling AI to businesses its actually pretty similar.
You want a business to do something unusual which is take take money out of their pocket and put it in yours
So how do you do that? well you create incentives for them to do it.
You can't force someone to buy your stuff..
But if you give them what they want, then it's a naturally reaction for them to give you money.
And what do these businesses want you might ask?
They want to make money, save money and save time.
If you can do that for people, getting paid should be as easy to feeding this whale sharks.

When I started building my biz in the online space, there was this cliche of working on the beach with a laptop.
I can tell you from experience that working at the beach kinda sucks lol.
First of all, it's way too sunny so you can barely see anything on your laptop..
Second of all, working at a desk is way more convenient.
But still, the idea of being able to work from anywhere is valid.

You know, one of the main reasons for why I chose to do a 100% online business was because previously I had tried to start a pop
up matcha store.
I would pay about $2,000 to go to these big events in California and try to get foot traffic to come to my booth to get matcha ice
cream.
In the end I lost thousands of dollars and serving ice cream was so manually intensive that I vowed to never do that again haha.
Which is why the next thing I would do had to be 100% online especially because I wanted to move to Vietnam.
So with AI these days, if I were starting over I would still do something that's 100% online because of the freedom it gives.
Not only that but when you work with things digital, you can make something once and sell it forever without any additional cost.
Trust me, compared to selling ice cream it's way better.

Hey Benjamin,
The reason why most people fail at selling anything AI is because they're so focused on building the fastest car…but they never
think about their destination.
You see, businesses don't actually care about AI itself.
It's a tool after all..just like a hammer would be.
What they care about is the END RESULT after everything's all said and done.
So most beginners jump from idea to idea looking for a business idea..
But that approach is fundamentally flawed because you're not going to magically find the perfect idea
(especially if you find yourself talking to AI for hours).
I think we all know that goes nowhere.
Instead, I'd recommend focusing on looking for problems people will pay big money to make go away.
Here's an example, a company has a job opening for LinkedIn ghost writer and it's been up for months.
They're already willing to pay thousands of dollars per month for this…
So why not just send the founder a DM leading with that job posting they can't fill…and suggest you fill that spot.
But instead of working for them as an employee, let them know you'll do it as an agency and you're going to use AI to get the job
done better, faster and cheaper compared to hiring an average hire.
I have clients in my community Founder X doing this all day every day.
And you might be wondering.. why would they hire you instead of doing it themselves?
Well if they could do it themselves they wouldn't still have that job opening haha.

Hey Benjamin,
So we recently started our next cohort for Founder X and it's been a blast so far.
Most of the people here are 9-5ers looking to build their side business with AI.
And one of the things I notice is that the main challenge most of these people have is sales.
Anyone can figure out how to use AI with a couple weeks of trial and error.

But the thing that stops most people is getting out of their comfort zone and actually reaching out to businesses and selling them
on an idea.
The beautiful thing about these trainings is that once I show them the fundamentals of how to sell, I can see something in their
head just clicks.
They have this expression like "omg is it really that simple?" And truthfully it is haha.
It's only been a week so far so I'll update you guys later on how progress goes!

Hey Benjamin,
Sometimes I think about, if I lost it all what would I do? And the answer is pretty simple.
As long as I have a laptop, camera and internet connection, I'd say it'll take me around 6 months to get back to where I'm at
today.
Especially these days with AI and how platforms like YouTube work, the most important thing to be successful is to develop skills.
Luckily the skills I have in sales, marketing and an understanding on how to use AI never go out of style.
Now if you're just getting started and you haven't made your first $10K/mo online, it's mostly a skill issue.
You haven't developed the sales skills to go out and get customers.
Usually people don't have an issue delivering the work, it's just they get in their own heads and find any reason to not go out
and sell.
And I get it tho, it's scary to go out and do something and risk getting rejected.
But that's the risk you have to take if you want to have what others do not.
Even the way I found my girlfriend…
I literally just cold approached her at the gym and said "hey I'm Patrick what's your name."
And that set off a beautiful relationship that completely changed my life.
If I hadn't taken that risk my life would look pretty different.
So go out and take that chance. Worst case, you get rejected and move on and try again.
Best case your life changes forever.

What you may not know is that for the first 4 months of working together, she was constantly changing her business idea every 2

Reflecting back on her meteoric rise, one lesson I want to pass on to you is it's not like she is particularly talent or special…
The most important factor that led to her success is that she didn't give up even if she felt like crying and quitting.
To become a founder, you need to be able to control your emotions.
yes there are moments where you feel like absolutly shit and wonder if your'e cut out for this.
but that moment will pass and you just go to keep doing the work.
i mean, it took me an entire year to make my first $1,000/mo online so imagine how much more pain I had to go through because i
didn't have a mentor helping me when i was gettin started.
so whatever it is you're going through, keep pushing.

These two pictures are 10 years apart.
On the left, it's me back in my 9-5 days on my way to work at Oracle.
On the right, I'm doing a live webinar with hundreds of people from a 5-star hotel in Bangkok, Thailand… in my Muay Thai shorts.
The funny part is that night I made more money in 2 hours than I used to make in a month working a 9-5.

It's crazy to me to see how much I've changed over these past 10 years.
And it's not even about the money.
Personally for me, the biggest difference is how I view myself.
Back then, I would describe myself as someone who was seeking validation.
I just wanted to be liked and respected by other people.
But now, I just want to be myself based on how I personally define my own success.
And the difference in how I live is night and day mainly because I feel free and comfortable in my own skin.
Most of the time, we're actually the culprits of holding ourselves back.
So if there's any advice I would give to my younger self, it's this… in order to live a free life, you need to break free from
yourself.
